Which one of these programs is full of crap? cpu-z reads the same as Ai Booster for about 5 second before it converts to it's new numbers. My BIOS is set to what Ai Booster is reading. Am I suposed to only look at CPU#1 (logical unit) instead?:

I'd say trust CPU-Z. Most likely, AI Booster has some tie-ins with the motherboard's BIOS, rather than the motherboard's registers.

Coincidentally, do you have that "CPU LockFree" feature (or whatever it's called) enabled in BIOS? This would explain your multiplier being at 14x instead of 16x, since I guess your 3.2 has the PRB=1 for increased thermal flexibility. If it's enabled, try disabling it and running CPU-Z again. Conversely, if it's disabled, try enabling it and running both ID progs.
 
The thing i noticed was the mulitplyer is different in each one, AI: 16 cpuz: 14, correct me if im wrong but doesnt that cpu have the speedstep (or what ever its called) and it lowers the multiplyer at idle to keep the temps down? maybe one program is reading what the cpu is capable of while the other is reading what it is doing right then at idle

It just dawned on me. CPU-Z has to be wrong. How can my multiplier be 14??? My normal speed is 200. So 200X14 is 2800. My CPU is 3200.

I went into BIOS and changed from 20% overclock to normal and now CPU-Z say I'm running at 2831.5. Seeing as how I have a 3.2GHz processor I'm thinking CPU-Z is completly wrong.

Whats up here?

I take it by your bold response you are attempting to inform me that TM2 throttling will in fact throttle below my CPU's stock speed.

Someone was polite enough to actually explain that on another board.

First, it's not a BMP. Second, if your browser can't handle it then might I suggest a different browser. It's named that way because I didn't have time to deal with it. I already had a untitled.jpg in there and I barley had time to post as it was.....anyway.
 
I can see the TM2 working now:

I don't quite see the point of using Prime95 as a stress test? It uses all my memory and hardly any CPU. Thus CPU-Z always showed the lower setting. It wasn't until I used CPU Stress Test v6.0 that the throttling hit the ceiling and my temps went up. Prime95 ran for over 24 hours and my system didn't really seem to notice other then the temp went up 2C.

I bumped it up a little more and now I'm at 4009-4031MHz. CPU Stress Test has been running for 4 hours now. CPU - 32C, Mainboard - 30C. I'll post pics once I've completly verified a stable 4GHz.
 
Intel made a nice little app awhil ago that lets you see when throttling is active, just nab it and watch the show. I don't have it anymore since I went AMD.


I'll take processors that run coolest at stock for $1000 Trebek!

I use Sandra burn in set to loop cpu arithmatic and multimedia only for stability testing. turn off all of its halt on error settings tho. It'll just overheat before actually freezing your system up usually anyhow.
 
How much of your CPU usage is being used exactly for prime95?

All I know is it will max at 50% CPU usage because of Hyperthreading. Somehow there's a way to make it utilize both threads but I don't know much because I use AMD.

Oh and if you're doing the Blend test then thats your problem. Use test 1 or 2.

Simple, you run prime95 twice concurrently, then both threads are maxed out. ;)
 
No see, the thing is he has the overclocking feature enabled in Ai Booster, either it overclocked automatically either he did it and he doesnt know
I alse have a 3.2 prescott but he has a different core and some other things in plus, here is a screenshot of mine:
notice, in Ai Booster, the yellow bars he has after the green bars, well that represents the OC

guys, speedstep is enabled on all 6xx series CPU's.

its downclocking itself when its not being fully utilized to save power and produce less heat. when the power of full clock is needed, it will ramp right back up in a nanosecond. its nothing to worry about, and CPU-Z is reporting it correctly.
 
All of this might have been fairly relevant a month ago. 3-4 weeks of silence seems to tell me that the issue has been resolved.
