Is an additional intake fan required or is the stock exhaust 120mm enough for decent cooling?
 
its enough for decent cooling.

but get the extra fan just in case i say, it definately helps, its pointed right at your video card.
 
Front 120mm fan on a Sonata will not help your case temps without mods. It is mounted too far back to pull fresh air into the case. It will cool your harddrives, but the heat it draws off them is added to your case temp. The only way around this with the fan in the stock location is to build a duct around the HDD cage and fan. This channels air in from right behind the bezel rather than just moving around air already inside the case.
 
I'm running an a64 (non-OC'd) in a Sonate w/ just the rear 120mm fan and the Alpha cooling hs for opterons (don't remember model #) w/ 80mm panaflo.. System is rock solid, temps are in the 40-45C range on the processor. It is an excellent case, I might add.
 
the heat off of your hard drives is in the case anyway, the front 120 will keep air coming over them as well as draw cool air from up front, the rear 120 will have no problem getting rid of the heat. I did add a blow hole to the side of mine to put some cool air on my video card, the box runs cooooold.
 
I REALLY hate the fact that they added that gay punched ANTEC logo on the side panels. I mean cmon Antec, do you really have to be that blatant about your advertising?

That and if the intake fan was in the front of the case behind the HDD cage instead of front, i'd own one. More manufactures need to start making cases with 120mm fan mounts
 
Deity: The heat from cooling the HDDs has to go somewhere (case temp). Also, the Sonata front fan is set too far back from the air intake to pull in cool air. It's like asking a fan in the center of your living room to pull in air from an open window. Anything in the path of the airflow will feel cooler, but it's not going to pull in enough outside air to notice.

Exactly right. No way to get more air in with that fan in the stock setup
