Highpoint? Promise?

I have a Silicon Image 3112A based controller embedded in my Gigabyte GA-7N400 Pro and it is not cooperating with my Maxtor Diamond Max 10. Silicon Image's website has pissant support and documentation and I am going to buy a non crappy, non Silicon Image card so that I may use my Christmas present.

So which is better? Highpoint or Promise?

Promise. But the BEST ones are made by 3Ware and the other PCI-X guys :p, anyway.

If you can wait a bit Promise is just about to ship a new PCI Sata controller with 64mb of RAM and an SDRAM slot for upgrading, and its meant to be really awesome. But for what you want to do, any FasTrak with RAID would be good.

Merry Christmas :)

if your looking to get that translated
its Dutch :p

Femme Taken employs IPEAK SPT (like Storagereview) to build the StorageMark 2003 benchmark
(you could too for a thousand dollars and weeks of work :p )

the benchmarks speak for themselves, but it is now somewhat dated
but is an accurate comparision of the cards included

of course you do need to seperate out the 32bit 33MHz cards from the 64bit cards as your board doesnt have any 64 bit slots

Do you really? Are they not backwards compatable?

some are some arent
its a case by case thing
but more importantly the benchmarks reflect 64bit performance
