Ive always wondered this even before my reinstall. I would always just manually end their process viewmgr.exe at startup, and when I reinstalled Windows 2k, it disappeared. I swear I checked my task manager every day for like 2 months to find out if it was back. Then today the stupid popup apears that says I need to update Viewpoint Media Player. Anyone know what this is? It says a new browser update available? But im using firefox!
 
sure, I linked that because much like say activeX it has legitimate uses
but if you don't need the content its providing you dont need it
 
It comes with AOL Instant Messanger also. So if you're wondering why it keeps showing up, that could be why.
