This sucks my GPU folding boxen is going to be down all weekend as I don't have access to the building until Monday. Looks like it crashed or something because all computers around it are up. Anyone else run into things like this? Now I am trying to figure out how to maintain my PPD so I can be eligible for the 90k PPD requirement for the video card, and keep moving up the ranks. Ugh! I wish I could stand up more systems here lol.

its not 90k PPD its 90k points a month and can be pretty much done with an smp client..

eg my 940.. 4k PPD x 30= 120k points a month..

but yeah as far as remote boxens.. easiest way to monitor them is using logmein.. it doesnt screw with your video drivers/gpu client like some of the other ones do..

LOL I didnt mean to say 90k PPD lol. Its getting late. I use logmein, and thats how I know it is down :(. Everything else (servers and other workstations near it are up. The other problem is that my main folding rig is also my gaming rig and some friends and I were going to be gaming most of the weekend away lol. Looks like I might need to take a trip to Compusa for another Nvidia video card.

Ahhh yes, the rational of a folder :p

I have the same issue with my GPU boxen. Although they're in my home, they're both headless boxen that I connect to through LogMeIn. Occasionally they will just lock up, and I have to hit the reset button. So, I don't know the cause, but you're not alone.

+1 for logmein. I travel for work and keep track of all my boxen remotely.

I've never used it..... Might be a good thing.

I also thinking I should have installed it on my borg :p

I have remote boxen I'm working to get around a damn proxy issue.. I don't have issue with vid drivers since they are xeon 6000 series boxes..

It's just frustrating because I'm not sure how to get around the issue to connect to get work

A few of us here started a logmein craze about a year ago, maybe more. I remember I did an review of my headless boxen and I mentioned I tried logmein cuz the iPhone app, never looked back since. Glad others are using it now, saves on extra hardware needed and makes it real easy to maintain if you've got stable clocks

It is great if you have a GPU folding. It is also pretty cool to check your boxen on the road. It actually works pretty well. I still use RDC on my non-GPU folders, but logmein has saved me a few trips upstairs for my machine running the GTX 460.

As far as your borg, it would depend on whether on not the owner of said borg would have a problem with you checking in on their machine. I'll definately put it on all of my parent's machines...it will save me hours in "tech support"....

Yes.

You push a boxen [H]ard enough, it stops pushing back. [i made that up] :)

Sometimes you just can't do better than physically pushing a button to reset. +1 for Logmein, use it for all my remote boxen.

:D

I have it on my parents' machine, and it's saved me a few road trips.

This one is back up and folding! Now that I lost a whole weekend of points from it lol. I think I might be losing a power supply on this one soon. I have a few more waiting to be burned up though :D. I actually used my laptop over the weekend so that my desktop could do nothing but fold lol. Hopefully I will have another Nvidia card in today to fold with :).

+1 for LogMeIn
I also have Hamachi installed on all my boxen so I can monitor every single boxen from every single instance of HFM I have installed on those boxen. ;) No more "some here, some there" based on what is under what network. :) (ie having 1 running at work on a separate network from my home network with my other 3 systems....now I can monitor all 4 boxen no matter where I am)

Yea I installed Hamachi on the remote boxen. Just haven't installed it on anything at home yet, but that was the idea of it for me so I could look at one hfm.net screen and know what is going on.

But then you'll be folding on BOTH GPUs. Which results in the same problem you were tring to solve in the first place. ;)

My main video card is a radeon 5770 so it isnt worth the heat to fold on. :(. So the new card is going into the home server :D.
