A few weeks ago, someone posted a $55? PC...who was it, and bonus points for links to the original thread! (Why am I asking? so I can build my own cheapassPC)

I think even that kind of swearing isn't gonna fly in a thread title. . . read the rules to refresh.

I remember the guy who did it, but the only reason it was THAT cheap was because he had a few parts already IIRC.

Sorry, I didn't know cheapass was swearing.

I thought it was so cheap because he got a few nice rebates on the MB and RAM. Though I could have been wrong. (IIRC it had 3 componants... 1 case, 1 MB/w all integrated, 1 stick of RAM.)

Yeah I remember that thread. Don't have a link to it, though. I think he got one of those tigerdirect motherboards that had everything on it and it was like $5 AR. I think his memory was about $20 AR and his case was about $20. That should get a bootable computer right there. Obviously monitor and other stuff were recycled.

btw, I had 'assblaster blitzkrieg'(from tremors 3) in my sig at one point, and a mod yelled at me for having cussing in a sig. Whatever.

either that or he ran it headless with VNC. I'm especially wondering what MB he used.

Yeah it was a tigerdirect board now that I think about it. And yeah, the monitor, kb, mouse, etc were all recycled. So before rebates, I bet it was around $150-200, after rebates $55 or so, and add another $100 or so if you don't have monitor/kb/mouse/cabling.
