White Residue?

Has anyone else ever experienced white residue forming in their black ice (or similar) radiator?

I washed mine out after running it with vinegar... Only to find it dry, and covered with white. It washes away, and is paper-thin. Any ideas?
 
same here, not sure what caused it

I just rinsed it with distilled water and filled my loop back up
 
I ordered my parts few days ago and checking reviews I'm going to wash the rad with scrubbing bubbles product, rinse it very good with water and put it together. It seems like vinager itself won't clean stubborn residue.

If you still get that back give it a shot to Scrubbing Bubbles :D
 
Fantastic with Bleach got rid of 50% of it... Super wierd too, filling it with vinegar produced a green-copper smelling liquid.

The fantastic with bleach inside of it produced a NEON RED precipitate-laiden liquid. The inside looks like a freshly minted penny now :D.

I did wash the entire thing with distilled water too, white residue still formed.
 
It's a BIP 2.120 Xflow radiator.

I've read somewhere about someone else getting white residue on their rads after washing it too...
 
Ah..! I got the same well the BIX.

Try Scrubbing Bubbles... I'm going to do that in few days when the parts arrive.

You can run the test for me :D

Haha, I actually, HAVE seen those commercials, but that's a US only product (AFAIK).

heh, the white stuff is on the outside only, and is almost gone now :D
 
If it's calcium or lime in the water, it might be a good idea to rinse it out with a product called CLR. I've heard it's pretty good, though I might ask around before using it.
 
its prolly solder flux if you didnt clean your rad when it first got shipped to you.
