With the sale now, which would u get, and why? either the 2005fpw or the 2001fp?

a 22inch sony crt.
of those two the 2005 as it is a newer screen with a touch better response.

*does the magical make-money-fall-from-sky dance, waits hopefully* If I had the money, I'd go for the widescreen. Of course, I watch a lot of movies.

I'd choose the 2001FP over the 2005FPW any day of the week. Widescreen is good for movies but not for computer related stuff IMO.

I just faced this decsion yesterday and went with the 2005 for a few reasons. Its a newer model (Nov. '04) versus sometime in '03 -- that alone might not matter but with a better response time (12ms) I figure the technology had advanced some during that time. Its also widescreen which seems to be a trend among tv's and laptops -- so maybe its a little awkward today, but I kept my last monitor for over 6 years. So I figure the 2005fpw might be a bit more useful down the road as the standard is more accepted.

And the coupon discount on it was a bit better than the 2001. Hope that helps.

Actually, I like the 2005FPW for gaming and other computer work quite a bit. You can see two word docs side by side and edit them very easily. It's also great in spreadsheet work. Portrait mode can be handy as well.

Widescreen for sure. Just as long as you have a decent enough GFX card to push it if you're a gamer.

fpw because of more screen, and its widescreen, love movies and games in widescreen :)

The 2001FP actually has more screen real estate.

2001FP: 1600x1200 = 2800
2005FPW: 1680x1050 = 2730

:p

I gotta 2001 and it is soooooooooo smooth. I gotta hitachi widescreen to watch movies and I can watch the football game too. IMO 2001.

Why is eveyone saying the 2005FPW has a better response time? They are both 16ms. The 12ms figure is for "grey to grey" and doesn't mean much at all. Both monitors are pretty much the same when it comes to gaming.
