I found on another website that using just the nvidia controller for a 2 disk raid setup, and my one boot HDD, would provide better results than using the silicon controller for my raid setup. And use less resources, and free up the pci bus. Is this true? Im running 2 raptors in raid "0", and one 250 maxtor as my boot drive.
 
Unless your 250GB Maxtor is one of the 16MB buffer units, you will see much better performance booting off Raptor(s) and using the 250GB drive to hold stuff like movies, music, etc. (You have already taken the boot time hit to initialize the Raptors in RAID, you may as well leverage the faster drives to speed up your boot time) They will also deliver better performance in all of your other tasks. Also, you are correct that using the SATA ports built into your MCP/Southbridge will be better than using an add-in controller on an expansion bus. The only caveat to that is sometimes the very high bus frequencies when overclocking can corrupt data on drives to connected to integrated SATA ports, forcing you to use either PATA drives or the addin controller. (This risk does not apply to systems that will be run at stock)
