Which would be better?

I'm thinking of upgrading the system in my sig to a DFI 875P-T with a 3.4E. Problem is that motherboard requires a 24pin ATX connection and my current PSU is only 20pin.

So which of these two options would be best?

1) Get a converter for the PCP&P 425 Deluxe

2) Swap the PCP&C for a Antec NeoPower

The most important thing is system stability. I'm also thinking off adding about 3 more hard drives for a RAID5 setup, a dvd-rom, and swapping the 6600GT for an eVGA 6800LE (underclocked Ultra), so keep that in mind.

well considering its you

I'll not bother to tell you to run the numbers :p
given there are enough amps, which I know you can determine
get the converter

for anyone else reading, this is a special case
with a very high quality supply and I still covered my ass :p

hmmm... just saw all those upgrades
now Im not so sure

run the numbers :p

ok, well a rough estimate gives me a max of 18.4 on the 5V line and a max of 27.5 on the 12V

both PSUs have plenty of 5V amps (38 and 40), so let's look at 12V

now the NeoPower has a combined 12V output of 33A, take off maybe 10A for safety margin and we're left with about 23A

the 425 Deluxe has 20A and if I remember correctly, PCP&C units are underrated so we'll say thats enough of a safety margin

so both seem kinda short of my requirements. I've all but ruled out the 6800 Ultra since my 6600GT does everything I need at 1280x1024, but I definitely want the RAID5 array, b/c right now I have nothing and it makes me very nervous. RAID1 kinda sucks, b/c you lose 50% off your space, but with RAID5, I'll have the added cost of a controller - anyway thats another thread.

I'm really leaning towards making the upgrade to the 510 PCI-E, since it's got a nice 38A 12V rating, has the 24pin ATX built in, and I should be future proof for a good 2-3 years
