Which way to go?

Hi, new member, frequent lurker. :)

Im building a new machine for a friend. Im a bit stuck as to which way to go Motherboard/processor wise.

Intel Core i7 960 3.2 GHz Socket 1366 8MB L3 Cache, with X58 m/b and 12GB 1600mhz DDR3 tripple channel ram, 3 sticks, corsair vengeance.

Or... Sandybridge i7 2600k, p67 m/b, 8GB 1600mhz DDR3, 2 sticks, corsair vengeance.

Either will be with GTX 570 graphics card.

Cooling in a huge case (corsair Obsidian 700D) with a H50 for the processor. Intending to o/c whenever Battlefield 3 is imminent! Both proc and gc.

I realise Sandybridge is newer and more efficient but i read horror stories about the sata problems, is a rev 3 p67 board now free of this problem?

Finally i assume i can overclock the 2600k with this motherboard? - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/260185

So, which way should i go? Im leaning towards the 2600k route.

Many thanks for any help.
Craig.

2600K hands down. That SATA issue has been fixed already with B3 revisions of motherboards. Yes you can OC the 2600K with that mobo.

Thanks, so the 2600k will perform better than the normal (nehalem?) i7? Thats what i want to hear...
So i'd be a fool not to go 2600k?
Thinking of an SSD for the os and 6gb/s sata 3 1TB for storage (until SSD prices come down / capacity goes up) sound acceptable?
Cheers again.
