I have this build right now..
DFI lan party T2RS
E8400 cpu
Corsair 4 Gigs pc 6400 4-4-4-12
Corsair 750 tx power supply
Xigmatec 1283 cooling fan

Waiting for video card to come in but my question is I have been using xp pro for a while now and don't have any complaints. Should I switch to vista 64 to take advantage of all 4 gigs of ram? I use the pc for office and playing games.I feel kinda ripped if xp doesnt use all the memory.
 
That system will handle Vista 64 extremely well. Just make sure that your other hardware has drivers. Use this link

If your printer, scanner, WiFi board, or whatever you have has drivers, I highly recommend it. Driver issues are really only an issue with legacy hardware. Anything going forward will support both 32 and 64bit.
 
If you are going to buy a new OS at this stage in the game, and it will be for a decent system or better, VIsta x64 is the best option.
 
I love my Vista x64. Only problem I have is that quick time plug-in for firefox doesn't support x64 and it makes embeded quick time black out (this is fixed by running FireFox is Xp SP2 mode but it turns off Aero when you play quicktimes then goes back to Aero). But I've only seen embeded mp3's so I just use IE for those pages. Everything else is fine and I love it.
 
Vista x64 is great. You can also get XP x64 for a good price, and many users on this board have had great things to say about it.

Although I'd guess Vista x64 is going to have much better long-term support, so I'd recommend that.
 
Might as well go for the latest and greatest. XP will fly on your system, but you 'lose 500mb' on it. With vista the 4gb will be very smooth.

Biggest plus is that x64 vista shouldn't have too many problems running 32bit apps. From what i've read all of the issues have been ironed out, finally.
