Which way did you install your XP-90?

Which way did you install you XP-90? Would installing it over hanging the ram good for cooling the ram? or its the other way around?
 
I have mine hanging over my RAM as well. If I mounted it the other way, I would have been limited to a PCI vid card since the AGP slot on my mobo would have been blocked by it.
 
I have my XP120 hanging over the ram.....it actually provides cooling(at least I can feel the air flow pushing down on my memory)..
 
I've got mine the way it was in the manual (heatpipes facing RAM) just because i didnt feel it made any great difference. Ive got an exhuast fan like 1 inch from the HSF so having it the way i do is probably better. XP-90 kicks ass btw, got it today. Had a 7000 alcu, the idle temps have gone up by like 2 or 3 (because AS5 hasnt settled) but when i o/c to like 3.45ghz the temp never goes above 41c at 100% load lol.

Plus i dont put 3.3v through my ram anyway so thats another reason to just follow the manual for the fun of it.

Also, installed an NV5 and that kicks ass aswell, my puter is mega silent now so im all happy.
 
i had mine facing the IO ports... the fan cools the mosfets.. also with this config, i don't need to remove the HSF to remove the RAMS.

my PWM temps drop from 50C load to 34C load
 
I gather from the above posts that most people install the XP-90 with the fan blowing down into the HS? I am getting one soon as was wondering what the best orientation was...
 
try both ways, see what you like. I have mine going down towards ram though
 
I have teh heatpipes of my XP-120 over the RAM as well, it wouldn't fit over the capacitors facing the other way.
 
I have my heatpipes facing the capacitors. I didnt have to take my motherboard out, but I'll post my before/after temps in a week after the AS5 cures. Using an ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe board.
