I was thinkin about gettin a water cooling setup for about 150-200$ i saw that i had 2 pretty good choices the Asetek Waterchill L20+ extra resevoir (120+20=140$) or the Thermaltake Big water cooling system (150$). The asetek comes with a better pump, yet both of them cool about the same. I was wondering what would be a good choice?

For $200, go to dangerden.com, get some real cooling, and don't waste your money on that stuff. You're better off with high-end air-cooling than that stuff. Cools the same, and you don't have to worry about the "overhead" of water.

at dangerden do i need to buy parts separately? i hate putting together a custom setup because im worried that i wont get the right parts.

and i thought asetek was a pretty good company because they make vapochill .

ok sounds good i looked at a few places.
what are the main pieces i need to get?
the parts i know i need to get are the pump, radiator, tubing, water block and what other parts do i need? THANKS!

Well you also have to make a decision if you want to use a T or a res

its a thing that splits tubing into something like this:

_|_ and the top goes up to another tube where you fill the system...

Some things I like about the Asetek system are the use of push-fits instead of needing barbs and clamps. If you would rather use push-fits and want American made blocks, check this place out: http://www.cooltechnica.com/index.html

You could look into their AquaXtreme kits, which are Danger Den and other parts with the ease of push-fits. The useable hose is 3/8", which is halfway between 1/2" and 1/4", so it's only marginally lower than a 1/2" system.

What I've been debating for the past month or so is this setup:

Block: http://www.cooltechnica.com/Merchan...Product_Code=AQX-TDX-Xeon-QC&Category_Code=WB
Pump: http://www.cooltechnica.com/Merchan...ct_Code=AQX-50Z-DC12-T-PnC-QC&Category_Code=P
Radiator: http://www.cooltechnica.com/Merchan...D&Product_Code=BIX-PnC-QC-BLK&Category_Code=R
Reservoir: http://www.cooltechnica.com/Merchan...OD&Product_Code=HDPE-BayRes&Category_Code=Res (obviosly the option with the AquaXtreme push-fits)

You can also cut out the reservoir and add a fill cap. Also still, you can buy any part you want and add the push-fits to them, as they come in NPT threading in various sizes. Naturally, because of the 3/8" tubing and threading sizes, Swiftech parts are easily useable.

Stick with Swiftech. Swiftech does everything right and gets great results. Avoid the thermaltake one, since they blow up their numbers like crazy.
