I ask because I found something interesting on my new dm3.
VLC, which has ALWAYS been the fastest and most universal video player I have ever used, stuttered with this machine, while windows media played the file perfectly.
It seems vlc player is a software only video decoder (am I wrong in this?)
windows media player seems to be using my gpu (3200 on the MB) to offload some of the load, which is important for an athlon neo x2 cpu as it is not that powerful. I always used vlc on desktops so it never showed up.
If I am saying wrong stuff, please set me straight, and if there are other players out there that support hardware accelerated video playback via the gpu, please pass them along.
