Soon I'm going to be ungrading to dual core and pci express based system. And I'm trying to figure out what graphics card to get thats close to the same or slightly better then the AGP card I have now. The card I have now is the ATI radeon X850 Pro 256MB, and the card I have been looking at for my new system is BFG GeForce 7900 GS OC 256MB PCI Express Video Card. The Only games I play are Cally OF Duty 2 and flight simulator 2004 and soon Flight sim X. Can anybody offer me any advice on a card that matches or is slightly better then the card i'm using now? for days Iv'e been trying to research this, but i'm not coming up with much to help me.

But even high-end SLI can't run it properly. :(

I've always got the best clock and mem speeds from XFX cards. But then again, I'm not a super-gamer so you'll probably get a better answer.

Alex, flight sim X will run under DirectX 9 but it is made to take advantage of DirectX 10 and will look so much better.
Problem is that you will need a DirectX 10 graphics card, Windows Vista and the rest of your computer need to be fast enough for Vista as well.

If you can afford it dump the 7600GS and go for the 7600GT, a lot more power for just a little more money. Or even better if you can afford it, Radeon X1950 pro.

A RADEON X1950 PRO is a better choice than the 7900 GS, in my opinion. This HIS model is good, and has a good price. $209.99

If you are hell-bent on the NVIDIA route, I'd go to a 7900 GT or 7950 GT. They are more expensive than the X1950 PRO and the 7900 GS, but also stronger. Here is an XFX 7900 GT for $239.99. Or this LeadTek 7950 GT for the same price.

On a price scale, the best buy there is the X1950 PRO. On a performance scale, the 7950 GT.

EDIT:

The X1600 series is no good. Go for a 7600 GT if you are in that price range.

Ain't it, though?

Alot cheaper than the Leadtek I got just a couple of months ago.

That XFX should clock up well, with or without voltmod.

Just read a three reviews on 7900GS vs x1950Pro.

And still fail to see why a $237 x1950Pro would be better than a $129 7900GS.
The benchmarks seem to go back and forth, seem close, etc while the 7900GS really needs to be overclocked to hold it's own, the cost premium doesn't seem to warrant the modest performance increase.

7900gs should be really compared to 1900gt which can be had for $135 at newegg no rebates... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102022

To the original poster if you want to save money just get that one right there... You can't do anything better than that for the price range... A 7900gs is fast for its price range but blurry with AF compared to x1000 series...
