Which upgrade path should i take?

Ok current specs in Sig, and my motherboard takes both PCI-E 3.0 and is ivy compatible. I was thinking of getting a 7850 and just sticking out the i2500k for atleast another year, its at over 4Ghz OC and runs nicely i just think its being held back in games by my TI550, also i am going to upgrade my monitor right now because 1440x900 isn't cutting it. The Ivys look nice and seem to be good OCers, just don't know if it is good enough to do the upgrade or not. Any suggestions would be great.
 
I would take a 7870 they simply are better bang for the buck
The 2500k can generally clock up quite a bit higher then 4.0Ghz without taking to much risk(4..5 or so seems average potential) Ivy-B clock for clock is faster, but at the same time, they do not clock as high as sandy-b is able to, so the slight gain in ipc overall is lost by the clock speeds sandy-b is able to gain. That and from what I have read, ivy-b while very good power miser, also gets quite warm once you start upping its volts to get its clock speeds up, so its not winning anything in that regard(higher temps need better cooling, and temperatures even with very high end coolers become a limiting point even with the top ivy-b at this point, could be the 3d transistors, could be a buh in the silicon, who knows.)

If I were you, something like the sapphire 7870 OC and stick with your 2500k, as long as you have 8gb+ of good speed memory (1333/1600 etc) I am quite positive from clock speeds alone you will be fine for awhile with that 2500k.
 
Video card upgrade hands down. I'd look at the HD 7850, HD 7950, HD 7970 or GTX 680. I don't recommend the HD 7870 since it's priced a bit too high.
