At the moment I'm currently looking for some decent speakers for my study. I don't really care for 5.1 or 7.1 allthough it is a plus.

I have around $500 to spend (or ~300 GBP), not looking for big bass or something I can hear down the street, but I am looking for really good quality. Anyone happen to know/recommend any good speakers for use in a small room (around 5 x 5 metres)?

5mx5m, Thats as big as a lot of folks living rooms. I would say Celestions of any kind (except for their smaller modern designs) are excellant, you can still find DL-8's and DL-10's, which were the best music sounding speakers I have heard for mid-low price ranges.

If your looking for a whole system, there are lots of el'cheapo stuff for that price range, some sound good some don't, but that's my take on it.
