I'm thinking PS4, but I believe Xbox will have the better launch titles. In the end though, I believe the PS3 had better exclusives overall.

This is kind of a weird question. I mean, I already have a desktop PC that's much stronger than the steambox listed... so why would I want another weaker steambox? I can also just use my laptop connected to my TV. Given what I already have, one of the consoles was an easy choice. So I'm a little confused.

Unless of course, you mean to say that somehow my Laptop and PC are both non existent now?

I have a gaming PC that is also a HTPC, I had no trouble.
Did you read the question?

I'll make it a bit easier for you by using less words :p
Of the choices offered, which would you prefer?

Which is the same as was asked, check the first line of post 1
Assuming an HDTV in a living room environment which would you prefer if you could only buy one of the 4 platforms?
He didnt say anything about what you currently have.

Out of those options, to augment my current gaming PC my first choice would be the Wii U. It will have far more exclusives I'd be interested in playing than either the Xbone or the PS4. If I came into a spare $500 for a console and games in addition, my choice would be PS4 after the Wii U. As I never bought a 360, I figure I'll maintain the trend and pass on the Xbone as well. If I wanted to connect up a PC to my HDTV, I can do my main computer as it sits roughly two inches from it. Not that I'd want to do so anyway given it's 5" bigger but missing quite a lot of pixels.

Even with a gaming PC, the point of the thread and poll was what would you prefer in the living room that fits within the 500 dollar budget. The question is specific in that it makes you have to decide between that Steambox or one of the other consoles. If you already have a PC in the living room that is a gaming HTPC (my signature for example used to have a 7970) you should still only consider what is listed.

In other words even with my HTPC (prior to downgrade), I'd rather have a PS4 as opposed to the Steambox listed.

WOW more people like steam over having actual media and owning the game for good.

I'm from a different generation, steam is shit to me. Only thing ever good about it is getting a great game for 5 dollars...and that's rare. Still not worth it imo either.

That generation wasn't as great as you remembered. Having to keep manual handy for the copy protection sucked balls. Then there was the era of waiting in download lines for patches and then having to download a risky nocd patch so you wouldn't have to find and swap your discs every time you wanted to play.

Gaming PC/HTPC + X360 Controller = Win.

Love playing AAA and Indie games on my big screen.
