I can choose from these models:

HD433
HD437
HD457
HD477

Or I could buy overpriced Sonys:

MDRCD180
MDRCD280
MDRCD380

Is there much difference in them? Is one company better than the other for those particular models? I'd like an opinion on each model, if possible.

well i use the hd280pro's. i really like em. nice volume and great sound isolation so you dont here anything but what you play through them. there cheap too saw some at guitar center yesterday on sale for $99.

Don't bother with anything but HD497's for the street line. They aren't really expendsive and you can get them at Radioshack for $70. Look online and you will find them for $50.

I haven't heard any of the Sennheisers, but the Sony models listed aren't worth buying, it'd be better to go with no sound and save up than to get those.

Amazon - $60.

Get these.

Guys, I can only choose from the models above. I'm starting to think I'll just stay with my Sony MDRG52 headphones. I really don't want to spend cash, lol.

Hi Mojo,

I agree with some of the other suggestions here. None of the Sennheisers that you've listed would be my first choice. In fact, the HD 433 is out of consideration - it barely sounds better than most freebie bundled stock Walkman headphones, IMHO. And the other Senns (437, 457 and 477) all sound surprisingly dark for such open-air headphones.

And none of the Sonys on your list are worth even their going prices.

As for your MDR-G52 Street Styles, GET RID OF THEM! They're terribly uncomfortable to most people, and they sound no better than freebie Walkman stock headphones to boot.

definitly go with the 280 pros there meant for studio monitoring so they're really clear and loud i love em.

Mojo,

What is your price limit on headphones?

Also, is there any reason whatsoever to reject online ordering? Or do you really prefer buying locally (in the part of Canada where you live at)?

Well I was thinking around $60-$70 Canadian. Even that sounds expensive to me. I want to order them from this shop: www.ncix.com that way I don't have to get into paying taxes at more than one spot, and shipping at more than one spot, as I will just order them when I buy the parts for my new computer this April. If I can't get anything better than what I already have (Sony MDR G52), then I won't bother. The reason I want new ones is that these headphones aren't really THAT great sounding. The mids sound all right to me, but it's the lows that are bothering me. Not to mention they aren't that comfortable to wear for extremly long periods of time.

That being said, see if you can a pair of decent headphones on www.ncix.com between $60 or $70 Canadian. Thanks.

Oh. You're in Canadia... no 280's then, amazon won't ship them to there... :(

Hmm. Go post a question on Head-fi.org. There are likely many more Canucks over there with better sense about what your money can get you. If the analogy with Best Buy continues, then that place will be overpriced.

less than a month old, just ordered from ecost now looking for some e2c's. they've been burned in for atleast 50 hours and i've worn them for under 10.

comes with all original packaging.

i'm in canada so i paid a bit more for these from ecost throughs shipping, that's why i'd like to recoup a bit more of my costs.

if you're from canada, you won't have to pay any duty on these since they are already in the country, so for canadians, $50 CAN obo

for everyone else, i'll start at $35 - buyer pays actual shipping costs.

(approx 10 CAN $ in canada, 10 USD to USA and 10 USD international via ground and 18 USD via airmail)

They seem to be reviewed well on Amazon.
