Which SATA drive to get?

I am in the market to buy a new hard drive and I want to go SATA. Any suggestions? Please post pro's and con's. Thanks for the help!
 
If performance is your thing....go with a 74 GB Raptor.

If capacity is your thing, you can find a WD 250 GB at fairly good prices.
 
Are you primarily concerned with high-capacity or fast access? If you wish for the latter, look into the Western Digital raptor series (10k RPM), available in 36.7 GB and 74 GB varieties. If you are looking for large amounts of storage, look into the WD and Seagate models. 200GB seems to be the best value per dollar right now, whichever brand you choose to go with.

Unless you are getting a Raptor I would definitely recoment a Seagate. I have had 2 WD and one Maxtor die in the last 5 months and have had no problems with my Seagates plus they are quiet, fast and have 5 year warrantys
 
I love western digital, but the segates have a better warranty and are faster.

I say get a 74GB Raptor for your OS, and some seagates for your data.

(btw, the 74GB raptor is FASTER than the 36GB raptor -- 4.9 vs. 5.4 ms seek time)
