It looks like I need a new graphic card to play some new games with good graphic effect, but I am struggling between RTX 2070 and 2080, so I believe I would receive some pretty good feedbacks from experienced folks here.

Monitor: AW3418DW, 3440x1440 (Nvidia G-Sync max. 120Hz)
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 1700X , 3.8G
RAM: 16GB
Current video card: EVGA GTX980 ( yea, old graphic card)

Games I play:
PUBG, GTA-V, Sniper Elite 4, Watch_dogs 2, and mayeb Battlefield V.

I am not expecting to upgrade my monitor to 4K, so I probably won't play any game under 4k resolution, but I want to play game at 3440x1440 with best graphic effect.

When come to Nvidia card, I am always confused about its product lines, because it varies from RTX 2060 all the way up to RTX 2080 ti. I know I would be worry free if I just buy the top of line RTX 2080 ti, but I personally feel like its a little bit over-kill with the setup I have.

Any suggestion and feedback?

Check reviews?

3440x1440 is 5 megapixels. Find 1440p numbers and multiply by 0.8 and that’ll be about your fps.

At that resolution if you want to play at ultra everything I'd go with the 2080. I game at 2560 x 1080 with a 2070 and am just around 70fps in modern titles with everything maxed.

Even with a 2080ti I don't hit 120fps at 1440p in Battlefield (downloading the DLSS update right now), it's usually somewhere around 70-100fps with ultra everything and race tracing off. I'd definitely go with the 2080, it's only going to save you down the road when more difficult games come out for our GPU's. With Ryzen cpu's coming down in price too if you bottleneck you could probably find one for a reasonable used price but I think you'll be fine.
