Friday, Friday, gotta get dow... err umm never mind that...

Okay so I was pretty much set on making a water cooled build in my Fractal Arc Mini. But for anyone here who knows me, I can't seem to sit idle and stop wasting my money. So I got to thinking of making a Z77 rig but ITX because my old ITX rig was freaking awesome. So here is what you need to know:
-Anything with a price of $0 means that I already own it and will be reusing it. I am not opposed to buying some things used but I have priced this using amazon, newegg, and projected used market prices. The price of -$50 for Z77 ram is because I have 2 kits and can sell one for that much imo.
-I have Shoprunner and Prime so shipping costs and tax are negligible.
-I will be building this rig in 1-2 months so things like the GPU are up in the air if I hear of something new and shiny.
-I have some water cooling parts and other parts for the Z68 build which I could sell to offset the costs of some of the Z77 bits.

I'm a little confused about the pricing and some other things in your chart. You have the Seasonic listed with the SG05, and while it is possible, getting two (3.5?) drives into an SG05 is going to be difficult. Also, if you bought an SG05BB-450, this would allow you to sell the Arc mini and Seasonic (<~~~ I'm assuming you already own this). I didn't see anything about the SG05 in your post, so I'm also confused whether you're trying to figure out what parts to go into the Arc mini, or if your debating between the two cases. Either way, my suggestion would be to go with Z77 and an i7 2600K/2700K

Yes as Vipz pointed out, the Maximus IV Gene leaves me somewhat confused.
 
I just caught the pricing and parts goof. It should be fixed in the new version I just uploaded.

I have both power supplies in my bin o parts. I will be selling whatever I don't use to offset the cost.
The 500gb drives for the ITX system are Scorpio Blacks (2.5") on amazon for 89.99 last I saw.
I already own the 450w silverstone PSU so I just need to buy the 300w version at the lower 104.99 price
Anything with a price of $0 or without a price is something I already own, per the OP.


Basically I am debating whether or not I want a watercooled Z68 based rig that is MATX or an aircooled Z77 based rig that is ITX.

Sorry for any confusion :eek:
 
Everything looks good, but a 450 watt PSU powering a gtx 680 sounds like a terrible idea.

Maybe a shitty overrated 450W PSU, but the ST45SF is fine. Nvidia uses 550W as the requirement, because there are overrated 550W power supplies out there that can only handle 450W

1 680 - 450W
2 680s - 650W
3 680s - 850W
4 680s - 1000W
 
Its already been proven that the SG05 450w psu will run a GTX680 just fine. In stock form. If you plan to oc both the cpu and 680 then there may be a problem but that has not been proven one way or another yet that I have seen.
 
The 450w should be totally fine for what I plan on doing. The 2600K + Z77 was a thought that occurred to me as I was walking from class just now. You need a third generation processor in order to take advantage of pcie 3.0, correct?

I would imagine that could be an ideal setup since the 2600K should be cooler at overclocked speeds and have the advantage of having a solid Z77 board vs those crappy Z68 Zotac boards.
