I've got a Lian-Li v2000 and I want to cool an X2 4400 and one 7800 GTX on a ASUS A8N-SLI premium, with possibly (though probably not) another 7800 in a couple months. I'll use Cathar's Storm from Swiftech, undecided GPU block, and either a D5 or DDC pump. I just can't decide what to do for a radiator.

I want enough radiator to cool the processor and GPU(s) down as close to ambient as possible. I don't want to cut a hole in the top of the case to fit a 120.2 or 120.3 radiator (I don't have tools or a garage, and I don't want to block my PCI/PCIe slots). I don't want an externally mounted radiator. I want to use quiet fans.

For those who are unfamiliar with the v2000, it has a 120mm fan mount in the bottom front, 2x80mm fan mounts in the rear bottom just above the PSU, and another 120mm fan mount in the rear midway up, right where the cpu sits. Here are pics from newegg:
one
two

So, I think I've got it narrowed down to two choices:

1. Thermochill PA160 mounted in the 120mm spot in the bottom front of the case.
- Anyone have any experience mounting this in a v2000? I don't think it would be a problem, but I'd rather not be the guinea pig either.

2. BlackIce Pro mounted in the bottom front and BlackIce Micro II in the 80mm spots above the PSU.
- How does using two separate rads compare to using just one larger one? Should I mount them one after the other, or put one of the blocks between them?

I could also put another 120mm rad in the spot in the middle of the back, but I think I like the options above better.

So, does anyone have any suggestions? Any better ideas? Am I going to get enough airflow through the current holes without dremelling out the grills? They don't look too restrictive...

You know you would have to remove one HDD rack in order to mount a PA160.1 in there.

A OC'er said above, you're gonna have to move that front hdd rack to get anything in there. Once gone, its a breeze. There's enough room to mount a fan in the cavity and in my case I'm doing push/pull on that rad. I used the stock grille in there up top, and flipped the PSU as I like the options it gave me in that lower rear area.

Yeah, I was planning on removing the hd racks and putting the hds in 5.25" bays with heatsinks/coolers.

Toonage, are you just using a single 120mm rad? Are you cooling a GPU, or just a CPU?

I'm using another Airplex240 that isn't shown yet in those pix and it'll be mounted behind those pumps. I'm cooling the cpu/NB/2xGfx/1-2 hdds. in 2 loops, and although I had my layout planned, once components are actually in there now it may change as far as the order on which loop.

A BI Pro fits in the front without having to take the front HD rack out using the stock fan and stock mount. :D

Go for the PA 160 with the Papst 4412 F2. The Thermochill is a single pass rad built for low cfm fans, which should meet your needs. My equiptment (case and mobo...) is very simular to yours except I have the 4800+ and two 6800's in SLI. I decided to go with the 120.3 and three Panaflo fans.

I'm just waiting on TN to finish building my Aquastream cable so I can complete my project. :p

Since you don't want to cut up your case (why'd you get a Lian Li then? lol), go with the Thermochill. It will give you cooling almost equal to a BIP2 if they have similar noise levels.

A BIP single or BIM2 will give you almost no cooling at all. If you want to be close to ambient however, you are better off using a Double Heatercore or BIP2.

Anyone have experience with two rads in a single loop? Does it work well, or is it better to go with a single, larger rad?

I'm using dual radiators in a single loop right now........ :D My system is somewhat larger than most, but I can run totally passive during normal computer ops and I switch on the fans to 7 volts while gaming and overclocking benchmarks.

If you're willing to mod your case, the 3x 120mm fan Thermochill rad. will fit in there nicely on top, as long as you don't put your optical drive near the bottom.

You want me to make one for you? Send me some dimensions as I got enough stuff to make two sets.
