Both radiators are excellent paired with the GT-15's.
Although both radiators benefit from the GT-15 static pressure, the SR1 does more because of the moderately high fins per inch.
However this reason is also why I would choose the RX360 over the SR1. Static pressure is nice, but you are still only moving about 50 CFM and the RX360 is really the king of silent radiators because of the low FPI.
I have had the XSPC RX360 before and I can attest that it is an awesome radiator for low speed fans because of the 8 FPI design. I could estimate that the SR1 would have nearly double the FPI, but that would enable it to be more efficient with high RPM fans which is usually the case with BI radiators, especially the Stealth series.
Both radiators would provide excellent performance. If you would like a bit more flexibility in terms of using faster fans, the SR1 wouldn't be a bad choice. Using the GT-15's I would go with the RX360 because it is simply the silence king for reasons stated and still performs great with faster fans too.
The SR-1 is a 9 FPI radiator, very similar to the RX. It should do better with Gentle Typhoons than the RX at any fan range based on FPI, but FPI is not everything. Martin's test has the RX and SR-1 neck and neck in his review. I would personally go with the SR-1 because the finish is a lot nicer.
I looked at both of those and decided instead to buy some Alphacool NexXxos rads because they apparently have a small internal ledge to prevent a too long screw tip from piercing the radiator. The UT-60 full copper is a 60mm rad that runs neck and neck (and neck) with the RX and SR-1.
I will instead be getting a pair of Monsta 480s because they are a massive 80mm thick and cool better than any of the other three rads, even at low rpms. If you bought the extended height top for the M10 then a Monsta 360 should fit as well.
The Monstas might be massive, but suffer from a really low FPI design, even more so than the RX and SR-1. It falls behind the GTS and GTX radiators at any fan speed above ~1500-1800 RPM.
Martin really seemed to like the UT60 and showed it as the top performer from 1000rpm on up (to 2200) with his fan selection
The new Monsta seems to have the same design as the 60mm UT60, only 20mm bigger. The review linked on the aquatuning page showed it performing even better than the UT60, though it was only tested to 1200rpm. At that speed the Monsta 360 did much better than the RX 360 and nearly as well as the RX480.
Extrapolating for higher speed based on the two reviews implies the Monsta should be a monster with higher speed fans. Of course, the extra 20mm of thickness will probably make the GT15 that much louder when run full out.
Separately, SR-1's seem to peak around the speed of a GT15 and after that BI recommends switching to one of their radiators designed to more efficiently operate with high speed fans.
well i took the leap! ended up buying 2x black ice 360 sr1
i have a rx360 here, but after reading all the comments it seems the gt-15's scales well with the black ice rads.
Just curious where you bought the SR-1s from. I ordered three rads from Aquatuning today and the shipping from Germany to the U.S. was predictably obscene.
