hi, i currently have the swift tech MCR220-QP , but i am reading so many good things on ThermoChill PA120.2. looking at many forums i notice that most people have the ThermoChill PA120.2, can someone explain why its better thenswifttechs mcr220?? thank you.

okay so your saying because its thicker rad, performance is better? they are both low noise rads. the ThermoChill PA120.2 cost a lot more compared to the swifttech..
 
Since its thinker, it has more surface area meaning it can cool better, also has more material meaning it costs more.
 
Thickness is only part of the picture.

The PA series is about 20% better than the MCR series IMO.
 
thanks everyone for your input, i didnt know that the thermochill was that much better. i went ahead and purchased the 120.3 as i will be wc my cpu/gpu/nb/sb.

also went ahead and purchased 3x scythe s-flex 120m fans
63.7cfm, 28.0dba. anyone recomend batter fans to cool off the thermochill with the least amount of noise and best air flow?

question though... do you think swifttech radbox to mount the rad to the back will support the thermochill rad? i plan to mount it outside my stacker 832. any advise on this would be appriciated. thanks guys.

The new "Ultra Kaze" from Scythe looks nice with highter preasure than the S-flex but little noisier, however 6xS-flex will do it just as good i think.

Radbox will support the PA 120.3 if you use the centerfan for support to radbox, but 4 long bolts and nuts though the predrilled holes under black fanbracket in rear of case will just do the same thing as radbox but cheaper.

Anyone heard anything (positive or negative) about them?
 
i just purchased my thermochill 120.3, and yeah your right it is beefyer. but one question for some reason it looks like it has rust all within the metel lining. it this normal and would it hurt my performance. i have yet to clean it with vinigar/destilled water etc but i found it odd that it had rust within the metal lining/fins its everywhere.

any advise on this would be great thanks guys.

They're a major hoax.

It's 72cfm at the maximum speed, or 14dba at the lowest startup voltage. Aha, not both ;).

But, eh, they're not BAD fans, just way overpriced.

Umm...that's not rust. Those are copper louvered fins. The flat vertical surface is painted black...the other color...is...umm...copper!? (;):rolleyes::confused:)
 
The bigger the rad the stronger the pump you'll be needing.

a 2 120mm style rad will be perfect for ya.
 
The PA-series are less restrictive than the MCR-series and no big difference between the PA120.2 and the PA120.3

Not exactly true... There isn't a popular pump on the market that wouldn't power through even a few radiators... Even the Senfu pump would power through a MCR320 :p

2. In just cooling CPU + GPU, is there going to be that huge of a performance delta between the SwiftTech MCR-320 and the PA120.3?

No, the Swiftech is the better purchase, unless you have deep pockets. Your not going to have much discrepancy in temps. The extra $70 or so is just not justified.

I'm in it for the long term. Just upgraded from the Thermochill PA 120.2 to 120.3!

1. To the SB none at all. To the NB yes, some NB'c (cough 680i) run like a damn furnace.

2. Not huge, but enough.
