Is there a difference between using

Danger Den - DDC-12V REV2 "PLUS" / Danger Den DD12V-D5 Variable Speed Pump

DDC's are better performer's than D5. If you're running multiple blocks, then you must get the DDC. DDC w/ modded top has the needed max head pressure to push through multiple blocks/rads.

D5 is less max head, is a bit louder, significantly larger in size, but is considered less prone to early pump death than the DDC.

How long have you had your DDC-2's running? The d5 has an over 5 year mtbf - any idea what the mtbf is for the DDC-2?

By then, a new pump would probably be out that would supersede both pumps in terms of quality and performance. The DDC also has a 5 year, 50,000 hour MTBF.

True ... got the DDC with the Petra mod top. Thanks for the info.

You picked the one of the best.

I've seen plenty of D5's run loops with multiple blocks and even multiple rads. All Laing pumps are quality and are capable of running most loops.

I've used plenty of D5's as well and still employ them on my non gaming/folding/benching machines. However, the DDC-2 has double the amount of head of the D5 and best of all, it's a lot smaller.

I wanted the D5, but couldn't fit it in my case, so went with the DDC-2 mod top, which is roughly equal - and fit's easily. The D5 has 320 GPH flow rate compared to the DDC-2's 250 GPH, but the DDC has almost 20 ft.of head pressure compared to about 10 ft. for the D5. My loop's running through a big rad, a cpu block and two small gpu block, so I'm hoping the extra head pressure will balance not having not maximal flow rate. None of the other pumps that I found were comparably as strong as the D5 or the modified DDC-2.
