Hi, I'm planning on making a new w/ced rig which will include

storm g4
dd 680i chipset block
2x HW Labs Black Ice GT Stealth 240
swiftech microres
and possibly a ek 8800gtx block

just wondering should i get 2 mcp355 with petratops, or 2 mcp355 with a Alphacool Laing DDC Dual attachement Hardwareluxx Edition, or a single mcp655.

Planning on sticking this in a stacker evo like what virtualrain did. Cheers
 
Pairs are generally better (particularly for redundancy's sake), unless you have a hell of a lot of circuit resistance. In that case more power / single pump would be better than two pumps with low flow rate and head.
 
2 pumps is overkill. Trust me. I'm using a 22" x 17" car radiator which is very restrictive (consists of 3 thin very long running pipes unlike a heatercore) plus 2 waterblocks and I noticed little to no improvement going from an Eheim 1250 to my current Alphacool Laing DDC Ultra.

One pump is fine unless, like the guy above noted, you want redundancy.

for me pump redundancy is pointless unless you tend to leave your PC unattended for long periods of time. If you're at your PC when the pump fails then you'll witness it crash and you can turn it off. If you don't turn it off, the cpu will literally fry (over temp protect on or off, I know this from experience).
 
My vote goes to a single DDC+ with Petras top. That should be a great pump. If you find that it isn't enough you can always add a second one later, but I bet you should be ok.
