Which psu?

2600k i7, 16gb ram, asrock extreme4 board, 6950 to 6970, a second one down the line at some point too. 1 ssd, maybe 2x2tb drives.

i know 1500 watts is overkill but i want something beefy :D

Yea, 1.5kw is way overkill. You know, the silverstone is nice but you could get a nice 850w and still be safe. It's your money though to do as your please :D

^ err a 560w (although a nice one) could handle his planned build? xfire and all?

After having 2 Antec PSU's fail within 1 year of each other - I would not recommend them.

I wouldn't recommend a mediocre brand PSU with high wattage, you're better off with a better quality brand lower wattage unit -- and a good quality 600 watt PSU should be fine for an Xfire setup.. but it also depends on the rest of your setup.

Just think of where else you can divert the money to by getting a 750w or 850w (that is more than enough for your blueprint)...like a higher performing SSD or an investment in a RAID array.

Unless you start getting into big video setups, you'll just have all that extra wattage sitting in your box, never to be used.

Nothing wrong with foresight. As long as you have the budget for it, more wattage is always a good idea. Same analogy is used for audio amplifiers. Get as much clean power as you can afford as what may be excessive now, may always come in handy in the future.
