Hello, i'm building a new machine now. It's been some 4 years since i built my last personal one. I am trying to get this one to be pretty beefy. I'm a bit converned about what strength PS i will need to run this thing. Here's the basic rundown.

DFI lanparty SLI-DR MB
Athlon 64 3200+ (venice, damn you amd)
1 gig OCZ PC-5000 EL Platinum
Seagate 250gig SATA hd
Chaintech BFG 6800 GT video card

I've pretty much decided i want a OCZ powersupply i'm just trying to figure out which i will need.

OCZ ModStream 520W Power Supply with OCZ EZMod technology, SATA Connector, Model "OCZ52012U" -RETAIL

but there's also a 600W one. would i need something this beefy ?

check out the sticky "how to buy a PSU" if you have your heart set on an OCZ, I'd get a powerstream over a modstream myself.

i saw that, but the power calculator download is very outdated. is there a newer copy anywhere? It didnt have 6800's, didnt have pc-5000 or even 4000 memory, didnt have seagate 250gig drives or DVD burners

yeah I agree... with the new mobo's with the SLI and new processors, and memory as well the chart is a lil bit out of date.. still works well if your building a system with older still currently available parts.

There is a link in that thread with the power requirements for all the new GPU's. You have to input the numbers yourself.
