2600K the best out right now?
Should I wait for the 2700K? (Not willing to wait till 2012)

I know this isnt the AMD section, but I want to know which processor to get without having to open 2 threads.

Im looking for overclocking, and gaming will be my priority for this PC.

So which processor is the best for me right now (or 2-3 months at most from now)

Is the bulldozer coming this month? Any idea on how good it will be?

If the heaviest duty for this PC is gaming, then you'll be fine with the Core i5 2500K. Only get the Core i7 2600K if you:
A) Are doing a ton of video or 3D editing/rendering
B) Have money to burn for no reason
C) Want one of the best CPUs out there at whatever the cost despite having zero need for it.

Not a ton, but I will be doing some 3d modelling, rendering, and some video editing.
I dont have money to burn for no reason.
What is the difference in price between the 2500K and the 2600K?

The difference between a 2500k and a 2600k is the addition of hyperthreading which is intels way of getting more out of every clock cycle. Most applications out there don't use this including your 3d applications (while you model). Once you hit the render button however, the story changes. you can expect to see 10-20% increase in performance between the 2500k and 2600k. On a render that would take an hour with the 2500k, you would be saving 6-12mins or more depending on your renderer. Your time is worth more than the $100 upfront.

The difference between the Intel® Core™ i7-2600K and the Intel Core i5-2500K:
Intel Core i7-2600K
-100MHz faster clock speed
-2MB more cache then the Intel Core i5-2500K
-Hyper-threading
You get all of this for around a $100. In a gaming environment these differences don’t make much of a difference. So if you are looking for gaming the Intel Core i5-2500K is really a powerhouse and a great value. Now for audio/video creation or some other heavily multi-threaded application the differences of the Intel Core i7-2600K play a much bigger part.

If you live near a Microcenter, they still have the best price (Instore Only) with the mix and match 2600K + Z68 motherboard combos, or they have a few 2500k + motherboard bundles.
