I am looking at a couple of 700W PSUs both cost about the same and from reviews seem to be considered good brands... one does not have any reviews on it but other reviews of PSUs from the same company and I was wondering which would be better

I am looking for a PSU that will last a good long time, will continue to have stable voltages, and the best efficiency.

Because he got an email from PC Power and Cooling. ;)

I'd say that Xclio looks good. They're typically made by Channelwell, which is trust worthy, and it has way more amperage capability on each 12V rail. I couldn't tell what the combined wattage on all 12's are though. Too lazy. But if you find that out, that might be your answer (the one with the greater 12V combined rating.)

fortron won't disappoint

I don't think any quad rail PSU would disappoint.

Seriously... can ANYONE think of a crappy quad rail?

5 bucks says soon, there will be an aspire quad rail that does 350w before letting out the magic smoke, and is rated at 650w.

You never know.

No no no... 1000W.

id say go for the fortron, fx700-gln, i have one powering a msi k8n diamond plus,x2 4800+ 2 7900 gtxs in sli,2 wd 250 16 meg sat 2 hds in raid ,2 gigs of ram, 2 dvd burners and 6 case fans, this configuration ate my ocz 520 sli for breakfast. this ps is working wonderfully and is very quiet, and voltages are rock solid stable.

also, the rated amps on the 12v rails are actually rated at 18 w/over proctection kicking in at 20 amps, not 15 and 18, i read this from a fortron rep, cant remember the forum though

And its on Nvidias and Atis short list of of sli and crossfire certified psus

it'll be modular with a bling bling case too. with the warrentee void sticker over the non-removable spot on the case, and the modular where you need to plug in each wire, not just a plug. Want 4 +12's? plug in 4 cables into the right spot.

according to the newegg listing and the manufacturers' web site the Fortron has 15 amps on each of the 12 volt rails while the Xclio has 18 on each of the 12 volt rails. The Xclio has 30A on the 3.3V and 28A on the 5V. So the Xclio has a lot more power in the 12V but is sacrificing some in the 3.3V and the 5V. Other than that according to the posts and teh reviews that I have seen both are about equal. So far it seems that everyone is saying to go for the Fortron. I will probably end up getting both to test them out in two different computers but I was mainly looking for what I will be getting first.

BTW noise level is not going to make much of a difference at least right now since I have 7 fans in my computer none of which are quiet plus the fan on the radiator for my water cooling.
