I want to move to 10Gbps between a pair of servers and I've got a switch with open 10Gbps SFP+ ports and a copper cable with SFP+ ends molded in. (but I'm not forced to use this cable). Which adapter cards and transceivers have you had great luck with? Are there any to stay away from?

The servers these cards will go in are Supermicro X9SCM-F and a X8DTU-F if that matters.

You probably want the Intel X520-DA2 2 Port Network Adaptor with SFP+ ports and use that Twinax sounding cable you have.
That would be easier and cheaper than buying an SFP+ tranceiver and an Intel X520-T2 2Port Network Adaptor.

I've been looking at these myself.

I should mention i've heard X540 based devices will be out soon (lower power etc).

I will also second the Intel cards. We currently use the AT2 style (uses the 82598 chip) and haven't had any issues.
