Which PCI Card is better?

There are two pci cards on sale and I want to get one to hook up to a 5" psone lcd for a mod i'm doing. Can anyone tell me which one is better?

1: PNY Geforce 4 MX4000 64MB DDR Link to card

2:MadDog Geforce FX 5200 128MB DDRLink to card

I would assume that the fx5200 is better, but i've asked this on a different forum and got mixed responses, remember I only need this for a small 5" lcd to display stuff like winamp and it's gfx visualizer, pc stats, etc, no gaming or any hardcore gfx. And i do NOT want to get an ATI card, my primary card is Nvidia and to keep things simple I want the pci to be nvidia as well

It would seem like the 5200 would be better, though I have a MadDog Gf4 Ti4200 and it's a lot crappier than the ti4200's that most people have.
 
anyone else know for sure which card is the best/fastest?

So why not just get the cheaper card? I'm sure the 5200 isn't worth twice the cost of the other card, especially considering what you're going to use it for. :)

they are actually both the same price, i linked the card at newegg so people could see what i was talking about, but i'm really getting it at a different store.
 
If you're just using it for 2d, get the cheapest card with the output you need (DVI I assume?)

5200 and Geforce 4 MX are of about the same power, with the 4 MX 440 and 460 edging out the 5200 in quite a few games.

I would probably go for the MX myself, if I couldn't find something else cheaper.

I completely agree. A 64Mb MX400, 420, 440SE, 440, 4000 should be more than adequate for your application, and you shouldn't have any difficulty finding something in the $35-$45 range. The FX5200 brings nothing to the table, except additional expense, that will be tangible for this particular project, and it isn't, IMO, a card that you would want buy for "down the road" purposes. I had a chance to play with a 128Mb, 128-bit FX5200 AGP card for a few weeks, and was totally unimpressed.
 
I'm building a low end PC for my son and must decide between a GeForce FX5600 PCI and ATI's Radeon 9200 PCI. He's 4 years old so won't be doing any hardcore gaming...yet ;) Any advice or opinions you guys can offer would be a big help. Thanks in advance.
 
The FX5600 is the faster of the two, but both have comparable image quality and 2D performance, if one is cheaper then take it, if they are the same price go with the FX5600.
