im pretty sure the obvious choice is the ABS one, but im not sure how their service is, I know dell is outstanding, and this pc looks really good, especially since they hrew in a free 19 inch lcd mon. I am leaning towards dell, cuz it is 1gb of ddr2 memory way faster speeds. Plus the good geforce 6800, even though 2 6800gt's kill it in that area. But then i will have the pentium D processors. So what do you think? any recomendations, and when u go to the dell site qwhat do you recomend me upfgrading the standard system to??

$2,048

The big question is....

What are you going to be using this PC for most?

If gaming, the ABS will offer a lot more to the table with its dual 6800GTs SLIed, and the A64 3500+. At this point, I don't think that DDR2 will offer you a lot more as far as memory performance in gaming or such. The Dell would not be bad, but a vanilla 6800 will be blown away by SLIed 6800GTs, and that 19" monitor may not be what you're looking for as far as gaming goes. It may ghost or blur too much for your liking.

Just my $0.02

I would also recommend the ABS model even though it seems a little pricy. Bear in mind that Dells tend to come with extra, usually unwanted, software.

Again, please post what you want to do.

Clock out.

well i would game more than anything, but i mean.. my parents want me to get a dell cuz my sister has one and its stable, she doesnt ever turn it off.. so idk.. lol, i know the 6800gt's sli is better, but idk if abs is good with service, i know dell is very good, plus i would love an lcd 19 inch, idk lol.. not a big deal to me, right now my gaming is awsome, cs:s 150 fps, with

geforce 6600GT
2gb ddr400
shit monitor
500 watt psu

so either way id be gaining perfoamance with either pc..

sorry for grammar, i was rushing, cuz im on my sisters pc right now lol..

I would think that abs service is very good, as its the same guys who run newegg...

true, i might want the dell cuz i can upgrade for sli, but all dells ive used are extremely stable!! VERY STABL, i mean keep it on for months stable.. so idk, plus the 19 inch monitor, plus my parents want me to go to dell, cuz they dont trust anything esle..

From personal experience; dell suck big, hairy, cheesy scrotum. The layout, airflow and quality is poor. So what if after-sales support is good - they shouldn't need it when you're spening £3000 on a pc ffs

Dell cooling is fucking awsome, if there was a problem with dell airflow, my sister would have shut her pc off, but its been running for like 3 months now, non stop, heat isnt an issue.

Yeah, those stock heatsinks and IDE ribbon cables sure are "fucking awesome" :p.

$2000 will get you a Dell 9100 with Pentium D, 1GB RAM and a 7800GTX, plus a 19" LCD as well. Would recommend this system over the two you suggested, considering that future games and other applications may be developed with dual-cores in mind. You waive the SLI option but the 7800GTX will take you far.

Who's paying for this you or your parents? If your parents are footing the bill, then hell yes get the Dell because they seem to already trust Dell. I'm sure either system you get will fulfill your needs easily.

The Dell sounds better but bear in mind that their computers already come with extra "useful" software that might hinder the gaming factor. If you do get the Dell, format the drive with the Windows Xp CD (order it for the extra $10) and you should have a clean machine. If you run into any more trouble, post and the forum might be able to do something.

Clock Out.

Or, i can just uninstall all the extra software.. lol.

wow that dell with the 7800gtx seems nice!!!

Yeah, those stock heatsinks and IDE ribbon cables sure are "fucking awesome" :p. Bottom line, any half-dedicated individual can build a pc with much better airflow than any Dell, or any other OEM for that matter.

The choice is yours. You will probably be happy with either PC, or even if you build your own. Of course, buying a dell gaming pc doesn't do much for you in terms of your [H]ard Rep points :).
I'd like to see you build a BTX system as quiet as Gateway or Dell, cuz I seriously can't find good quality, quiet BTX components off the shelf...

I can't find a direct lnik to that ther dell pc, i think i am liking this pc:

Pentium 4 3.2GHZ
1GB DDR2 667MHZ
Nvidia Geforce 6800
650 Watt PSU ( i belive )
250 GB HDD

Do i need a soundcard? I am cutting it close with cash, and i dont use one now and everything is ifne, so do i need one? what does it do? Cuz i can save the $70.

$1,888

thats without the soundblaster soundcard thing which i dont need.

plus, how will this run games like cs:s and bf2, etc.

cuz i run cs:s perfectly with:

AMD 64 3400+
geforce 6600GT
2GB DDR400
500 Watt Psu
200 gb / 80 gb hardrives

almost 2 grand for a p4 3.2 with a vanilla 6800? seriously reconsider, someone linked a dell (since you and your parents are hard up on dells) a nice system with a 7800gtx, that system will do you good for a long time and was a much better deal.

dell dimension 9100
Pentium D 3.0 ghz
1gb ddr2 ram
7800gtx
250gb hdd
19" lcd
etc

that is your best choice I would say if you go the dell route.

I just went through a configed this pc, came out to 1850 about, with 2 year warranty and windows xp media center 2005, was actually 120 or something more for xp pro which is nuts, xp media center is xp pro with the pvr app that you can just disable.. or keep running if you like.

Can you get a direct link to the Dimension 9100. But mney is a problem. I cant just choke up another 400 or anything.. cuz next summer im working and im gonna get another $1,000 .. so il be adding another gig of ram and another 6800..

hell no, i dont want a dimension 9100, wow a 7800gtx, thats all it has, doesnt support sli though, next year im getting another 6800 , and 2 6800 are better than 1 7800, and if it comes down to worse, next year ill get a gtx.. but supporting sli is a big step toward my decision.

Pay attention to this: Dual Core will not help your BF2/FEAR performance at all, and there will not be a game released with dual core in mind for another 18 MONTHS. By that time (when ut 2007 comes out) of course, there will be plenty of new, better dual core processors for you to take advantage of.

After reading your FS thread and how your trying to sell your current rig, a 3500+ with a 6600GT and 2 gigs of memory, I'm a little confused; why exactly do you want to sell that rig, which you built a year ago at most?

I 100% guarantee you that if you get just a single 7800GT/GTX and replace your 6600GT with it, you will be more than happy with your BF2/FEAR performance. There is absolutely no reason for you to eat a $1500 loss for a marginal speed gain in any game for the next year and a half.

Don't ask.. I am not buying a video card, I just want a new pc, end of story lol.

Yes it's confusing... why buy a new system when you already have a decent one...? But of course, getting new stuff is always cool if you can afford it.

if you dont get that dell with the GTX ... ill start ripping hair... SLI dont mean a thing when your running at 1280... espesially when its a top of the line card.. and i believe the first dell you mentioned didnt have SLI support... so why are you even pettling with this over priced comp... the one with the GTX will be plenty for you for years to come.. ( unless you get a moniitor that goes higher).. and hey in a year from now.. you probrably be already upgrading... we all try to think ahead.. but really ahead we always upgrade...

I would definately leave that dell alone. its an overpriced intel machine.
you know you want that 3500+.
plus even though some people are disagreeing to SLI, its got SLI, I would rather have SLI than no SLI, two is better than one.

I am not getting a pc with little upgrade ability for the same price, wow a 7800gtx, well a 6800 runs everything fine nowadays, i only play on 1024 x 768 anyways.. SLI is just an insurance incase i decide to get a bigger monitor. dont worry about it. lol.

Ok new question:

Which pc is betterout of these 2??

AMD 64 3400+
2GB DDR400 (slow ram)
Nvidia Geforce 6600GT
500 Watt PSU
200GB and 80Gb Hdd's (NOT SATA)
Abit AV8 Mobo

Or

Intel P4 3.2GHZ
1GB DDR2 667MHZ
250GB HDD SATA
Nvidia Geforce 6800
650 Watt PSU
Nvidia Nforce 4 SLI mobo

no money involved, just which is better, for gaming nontheless.

omg... you wanted the best PC>.. someone even found a better PC for the same price.. and that totally smokes both of yours.. and your not gunna get it.. fuck yeah!!.. it has a 7800GTX.. and if you want to upgrade.. im SURE there will be more great single cards out there.. ( Echem R520)... that you can just upgrade to when ever...

you didnt answer my question lol...

The pc im buying is only $1,888 .. Icant afford ANY higher not even the extra 200 for the gay video card, so please, let me do my thing, PLEASE OK???? I understand it is better now, but it won't be better when i can have 2 7800GTX's next year will it? no.. ok.. And I might not use the lcd 19 inch, so don't bring it up.

well seeing how one has a 6600GT... and that card just plain sucks.... dont get that one...

this is more like a BS question when you put little bad notes next to the shitty computer...

this is a no brainer.. but he still wants to ask...

why did you even ask for our opinion then? you have already decided what you want to get. sigh, peoples kids.

I want a pc with sli, cuz i am upgrading, i dont need a 7800gtx, seriously, think about it, WHAT GME NEEDS A 7800GTX if you run everything on 1024 x 768? NONE and no af as shit. just high setttings. Jesus, why put $200 more for a pc that cant go sli in the future. Cuz belive it or not, sli is the future for video cards. Because everything will be advanced, and as long as i have this dell in 10 years if i hve 2 7800GTX it will be fine..

What is better..

Pentium 4 3.2GHZ , or Pentium D 3.0GHZ

In gaming benchmarks the pentium d was'nt that good.

what is the difference???
