I have 2 120gb hard drives (seagate and maxtor). One of the drive has two partions on it (windows and storage) and the other drive has just programs. How do I find how which hard drive the partitions are on because I dont want to delete my storage partition. I just bought a new hard drive and would like to install windows and programs to the new hard drive use the other drive/drives at storage but I would need to some how delete the windows partition so I only have a single partition for all my storage. What would be the best way to do this?

thanks

so you now have 3 hard drives? if this is the case, then unplug the other 2 drives and install windows on the new drive. after windows is all finished, replug the other 2 drives in. you probably will want to repartition the 1 drive with windows and storage so you have a full drive. so backup your information and format the drive. then put all your storage stuff back on that drive.

cheers :)

QFT.

The best way to install windows when you have multiple drives is to unplug all the ones that you don't want windows on durring the install. Then reconnect the drives and manage your partitions in disk management.

I only have 2 hard drives. Ill have 3 with the new one coming. One with 2 partitions for windows/storage and another harddrive with just programs. I just thought there would be an easier way rather than having to copy over like 60+ gigs of data to the old "programs" drive and then format the "windows/storage" drive and recopy the data back over from the "programs" drive.

Once I reinstall windows on the new hard drive, is there a way to delete the old "windows" partition on the one drive with the storage / windows partition to make it into one drive instead of having to backup the data, format the entire drive, then recopy the data?

easy way? not really. partition magic can do this, but i for one, am a bit more pescimistic on having everything work properly after this. partition magic will even tell you that you should backup your data anyway. i do this as a precaution when working with drives. believe me, doing the work properly the first time usually allieviates any potential problems you could have in the future.
