Which Panaflos to Get?

Which 80mm Panaflo fan should I get?

Right now I am running a Smart Fan 2 which is like a jet engine. I am looking for something that can still keep my temps low, but be quiter than the Smart Fan 2.

Suggestions?

Also would Panaflos be quieter in my case than Sutons which I have in there now?

Ops I thought you meant 120mm edit. I would reccomend the "Stealth" line of 80mm fans. I forget the manufactorer, but they have good cfm for 22dba.

To answer the question, Panaflo 80mm M1A BX. 32 CFM @ 28db.

H1A is high speed, M1A is medium speed, L1A is low speed, BX means it has RPM monitoring. And Panaflos are quieter for a given amount of airflow than Sunons.

Of course, bigger fans are almost always better... the 90mm M1A is 48 CFM @ 30db.

I'd say it depends on your heatsink. If you have a low end heatsink that requires a high airflow fan to keep it cool, swapping it with a low noise Panaflow M1A would probably raise your temperatures due to the lower airflow through the heatsink.

The heatsink I am using is a SLK-800 with a Smart Fan 2. I'm looking for a quieter alternative to the smart fan without losing cooling power.

More airflow is always louder, so in that sense there is no free ride. But a Panaflo will give you less noise for a given level of airflow than its competition.

I suggest you look into an adapter to mount a 92mm or 120mm fan onto the SLK-800. I don't even know if such a thing exists, but best/easiest way to make more airflow with less noise is to lower the fan speed and make the blades displace more air. ie. get a bigger fan.

You forgot the U1A, Ultra model. Not as popular as their siblings but push a fair amount of air, with noise in the mix
