Greetings. Just bought an opteron 165 and want to verify that it really is dual core, 1M cache each core, etc. It's mounted so I can't read the chip. The box says OSA165CDBOX. AMD's cpuid didn't make any sense to me. CPU-Z ids the chip Code Name: Toledo and Specification is: AMD Hammer Family processor - Model Unknown. What have I got here? Any other tools or suggestions? Thanks.

Thanks, ILC. AMD is a good place to look (duh). I was nervous because various utilities couldn't id the chip. Thanks, again. Regards.

If the utilities didn't ID the chip that means that you don't have the correct bios installed or you are using an out dated version of the utility. Flash to newest Bios and download the latest CPUZ and see what you get.

Also, to verify it is dual core, hit ctrl-alt-del and look at the performance monitor, there should be 2 cpu grpahs (one for each core)

Thank you both. I've updated the BIOS (1C) - fuelvolts - and now see both cores in cpu-Z and task manager. So I'm a happy camper. Regards, Slim.
