Hey guys what should I upgrade first my processor to a 3.06 from a 2.2 or my memory corsair XMS series 512mb DDR400 from pc266?

If you end up upgrading the processor, i'd strongly suggest getting the "C" series w/ Hyper Threading. Doesn't cost very much more, yet you get a ton better performance. Definatly woudlnt' suggest getting another "A" series.

the A Series stopped at 2.4 ghz

3.06 is a 533fsb, it's a B series processor

It's also the only B series one with hyper threading

so it would be a good choice to move to the 3.06 over the memory

you'll be suprised at the performance gains

The Reason I cant get a "C" series processor is because my mobo only supports 533mhz and the 3.06 is a 533mhz. If I had a different mobo I would get the 3.2 but I don't so you guys all suggest the processor upgrade?

Are you drunk?

It is the "C" Series that use 800MHz FSB and have HyperThreading Technology.

Therefore, to answer the question of this Thread, I would invest in a new Motherboard that will support "C" P4's because they are much faster and have HyperThreading. I would not spend any more money on that "B" Technology.

thirded (not quite a word, is it...oh well...), i agree with Iownza...

velocity pimp, just a friendly word, check your facts ;)

velocitypimp is mostly right. Check your facts before flaming someone else to check their facts.

P4 B-series 3.06ghz does have HT, and was the first and only B-series with HT.

The A-series didn't stop at 2.4ghz. There was a 2.6A.

As far as advice on the original question, get DDR400 memory and then OC your 2.2A to go along with it.

My P4C 3.06 chip has Hyper threading and 800 MHz FSB, I don't need my facts straightened...

maybe im missing something here... but i really doubt that....

edit: and yeah, it does support HT before you get your panties in a knot.... but im not pissed to make another picture...check your facts

Its apparent that the 3.06P4 comes both in b and c both w/HT. Now lets get down to brass tacks, id suggest getting better RAM, processor and new mobo that supports HT and the 800mhz FSB. If you can afford that then get the processor.
