just sold my HD6990 for 500 on ebay and locally I can get two GTX 670 EVGA with back plate's for $560.

do you guys/gals think I should go for the 670 sli or go for a single gtx 680 / HD 7970

Are the 670's reference design or the ftw's? A pair for $560, is very tempting.

How did you like your 6990? Only asking because i wasnt particularly happy with 2 6950s...higher frames were there but it just didnt feel as fluid and smooth compared to a single 6950...and that was at 6080x1080...i sold the second one pretty quickly. And what resolution do you play at? 7970 is my vote...you can always try adding a second one at some point.

these are the exact ones: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130782

the owner says he never registered them, warranty wise that kinda concerns me but on the plus side he's got the boxes for them ;) . Other than that I think they are ref designs with back plate

I only play at 1080 and the game play experience was generally great and fluid

Got for it . . . . . But a single beefed up 7970 also sounds greattt so many choices so little flow lmao

Get the 670s. A single 680 or 7970 isn't going to get near 120Hz going forward. 60Hz they'd be fine, but that's starting to change with games in the last couple months.

I had that exact same one before, solid little card. It does run hot (77-80c), but the card is fairly quiet.

I would go for the pair of 670's, if I had your choice.

alright so am committed to the buyer and tomorrow I get to see them in action in 3d vision before I get them ;)

now to see how to get these on warranty :S
