Which one of these would be better for mostly everything? Please keep in mind I will not be doing any overclocking!

Windsor (90 nm SOI)

* Athlon 64 X2 5200+
* CPU-Stepping: F3
* L1-Cache: 64 + 64 KiB (Data + Instructions), per core
* L2-Cache: 1024 KiB fullspeed, per core (1MB x 2 = 2MB)
* VCore: 1.25 V - 1.35 V
* Power Consumption (TDP): 65 Watt 5200+ EE
* Clockrate: 2.6GHz (2600MHz)
* RAM: 742MHz
---
Pros: Has a very high cache size 2MB for a AMD processor, and is rated at 65W.
Cons: Does not run the ram at full speed, slower clock rate and larger SOI process.

VS.

Brisbane (65 nm SOI)

* Athlon 64 X2 5400+
* CPU-Stepping: G2
* L1-Cache: 64 + 64 KiB (Data + Instructions), per core
* L2-Cache: 512 KiB fullspeed, per core (512KB x 2 = 1MB)
* VCore: 1.25 V - 1.35 V
* Power Consumption (TDP): 65 Watt
* Clockrate: 2.8GHz (2800MHz)
* RAM: 800MHz

Pros: Has a higher clock speed, lower SOI, and runs the RAM at full 800MHz.
Cons: Only 1MB of cache.

The 5200+ only has one advantage, it's cache size.

* L2-Cache: Athlon 64 X2 5200+ (2MB)
* Clockrate: Athlon 64 X2 5400+ (2.8GHz)
* SOI: Athlon 64 X2 5400+ (65nm)
* RAM: Athlon 64 X2 5400+ (800MHz)

Someone who bought the 5400+ on newegg claimed he owned the 5200+ and said that the 5400+ was noticeably faster.

[Great chip]
Pros: I was debating on this chip or the 6400+ but, for the price difference and the power comsumation i went with this one....the 6400+ CPU runs at 125Watts pretty high....I had a AMD 5200+ before i got this one i can tell the difference this one is faster......

Cons: 1MB cache ------- AMD 5200+ 2MB cache but, this CPU still faster so dont let this scar you away..... NO CPU fan

Other Thoughts: ----AMD 5400+ / Asus SLI MB / 4GB Ram / 8800GS / 80GB - 160GB / DVD-RW / DVD-ROM / 580Watt PS

The link to the above reference is here at newegg

At stock speeds the 5400+ will probably be SLIGHTLY faster at most things, but may fall behind or only be as fast as the 5200+ in cache dependent apps. However, Brisbane is a better overclocker than Windsor so if you take that into consideration, the 5400+ is probably the better choice.

I agree with Natsuiro, I highly doubt this guy noticed much of a difference, it was more than likely in his head, they're simply too close togehter at stock speeds to notice any difference except for benchmarks, and even then it would be minor.
