Just purchased a sapphire 6950 2gig dirt 3
Which is best to use? ... trixx or afterburner or other? Dont know much about any of those ...
Its been awhile since I OCed a vid card ... and I used ati tool back then.
 
I use trixx on my MSI card. There's this power management feature AMD cards now have where the card won't use more than 200 watts by default, it would throttle down the clocks to manage this. However, there's a setting in CCC that allows it to allow up to 20% more, but afterburner overrides CCC settings. Trixx allows me to overvolt and overclock while keeping my power management at +20%
 
I am also interested in video card overclocking software. I finally have the hardware sorted out on my current rig and needed to start working on overclocking it, but I haven't overclocked a video card since ATI Tool was current.

I'm not sure how accurate it was, but I liked the artifact scanning feature that the ATI Tool had. Any overclocking software with a similar feature?

MSI Afterburner
 
You could still use ati tool to test the clocks you make with trixx or afterburner
 
I have the same card. MSI Afterburner didn't work well for me. The card is non-reference and overclocking features were only the same as AMD Overdrive with no voltage unlock.

But TriXX does the trick. Nice App. I wish it had OSD like MSI. I could probably use both.
