So I don't have to tweak the postion and size when I change resolutions

most if not all (in that range of size) have an auto memory feature where you only adjust the settings once per resolution, and it will be saved on that particular resolution and recalled respectively during change. i forget if it applies to refresh frequency.
 
i owned an old 22" mitsu diamondtron (incredibly awesome monitor back in the day) before they merged with NEC and they still had this feature. i'm assuming yes. same goes for the discontinued sony trinitrons.
 
my old Sony Trinitron manufactured 99 had it so I guess 99 % of the monitors do.
 
i'm wondering if only modern graphics cards support this. i had a GeForce 3 and i always had to adjust things myself, but now with my 6800 GT it automatically adjusts the picture to perfectly fit the screen. i haven't had to touch my monitor controls since. i'm using a 5 year old Viewsonic A90 with no drivers installed for it.
 
All modern monitors have such feature.

Adjust once and the setting is remembered after that up to a certain number of allowed presets.
 
I have a brand new Mitsubishi DP930 and a Radeon 9600XT and it is not doing it. I am also using Windows XP with SP1. Is there some setting I have to enable to get this?
 
are you certain the refresh rates are the same when you change resolutions? what about bit color depth? could be the culprit.

I just talked to the Mit cust ser and he helped me with the resolution auto adjust. Apparently refresh rates affect screen geometry and need to be adjusted when changing resolutions (his words). So far I have tried 1600x1200 at 85Hz and 1280x960 at 100Hz and it remembers the positions when I change (as long as I adjust the refresh rates). He also said there is a maximum amount of memory for geometry control (I guess that mean you can have only so many presets)

Gonna try 1152x864 now (those 3 are the main ones I use)


edit: K. I forgot that I hosed 1152x864 (only have 43 and 47Hz interlaced available. One day I showed my friend what 60Hz looked like at that res and after that only those two refresh rates are available at that res. I think a fresh Windows install will fix that). I did try 1024x768 and 800x600 and they both worked fine (as in memory auto adjust).
