I plan on getting 2 sticks of 512mb. I plan on doing some oc'ing. Which of these do you think would be the best price/performance choice?

Crucial Ballistix

If you have suggestions for 1gb vs 2gb I would also love to hear those.

i have the lower rated pc3200 version, which is sometimes 5b G and sometimes 5b D (G > D), these should always be G.. but anyway, i got a week ago that does 225mhz at 2-2-2, 260mhz at 2.5-2-2 and 290mhz at 3-3-3, all with the rated voltage ;)
i'm fairly certain the pc4000 gets the chips that do higher mhz, but potentially at looser timings. i haven't done enough testing to be sure though

I have heard people have been having problems with recent Crucial stuff. I know its good ram and I'm thinking its worth the risk to go ahead and get it. I mean I dont think I can pass up good ram based on something that may OR may not happen.

try to get something other than crucial for the moment. there is a lot of good stuff out there

i like that g.skill too

also, it's the ballistix 1gb sticks with 5b D that's having issues. i haven't seen anyone with micron 5b G have any dead sticks. i gave my stick i got a week ago 3.1v for a while, and it's clocking better than when i got it ;) (read: 290mhz is actually stable, not random reboots like it was before)

Well this computer is going to be primarily for gaming and school work so I'm probably gonna go with the 2gb of G.Skill.

As others have mentioned, the crucial ballistix seems to be having qc issues at the moment.
I ordered a pair of crucial ballistix 512mb pc4000 sticks a month ago, and they were dead 2 weeks later. Also from what Eclipse says, they pretty much require active cooling. I never had a fan on mine, but they never felt hot to me when testing them for hours with memtest when I was dialing in my oc.

I bought one of these locally instead of risking another RMA and the associated downtime.
