So I built my first system ever about 6 months ago with an Abit 1p35 pro and Q6600. I will soon be building another with a Q6600 and im not sure which MB to get, I like the abit but I hear they are going out of the MB busines and alot of the recent ip35 pros have been not soo good, so what would you guys recommend? I want a board that will OC the q6600 pretty well and be able to fit a tuniq tower probably since thats what I have now and I like it, thanks.

Edit: Also, I dont really need 2 pci xpress slots because I wont be crossfiring or SLI, one card is enough for me!

Edit 2: Also, I havnt read alot lately about processors...how do the q8200 procs fair agaisnt the q6600 for speed and overclocking? I see they are pretty much teh same price. Thanks

As for motherboard, stick with the p45 chipset. Its newer, better, not much more expensive. Has pci e 2.0 x16 for single card, pci e 2.0 x8 if u ever plan on xfire or sli which is just as fast as pci e 1.0 x16. As for brand, go with Asus or gigabyte. They both have very high quality components and capacitors. imho, the mobo is the most important part to a computer so dont skimp on the chipset.

As for processors, the q6600 is the way to go compared to the q8200. the q6600 has a larger L2 Cache and pending the VID (stock voltage), it can be overclocked easily to 3.6+. Thats what id do.

I love my DFI Dark P35-T2RS. Its a great OCer from my understanding.

If you're going for a brand new board though, Definitely go for the P45 chipset. They're the same price as the P35 was, and essentially the same. I haven't heard of it being any faster or better than the older P35, but why not, right?

From what I've read, a lot of people are up in the air between tje Q6600 and Q8200. They're pretty close on paper, and I'm doubting you'd experience any major differences between them in ral-world use. I do know that tje Q6600 is a good OCer though, so stick with it if that's your bag.
