Which Macbook Pro to get

I'm getting a macbook pro for a laptop in the near future and I'm undecided on which version to get. I'm looking at it from a small gaming point of view (mainly World of Warcraft) and I'm also interested in giving Final Cut 4 Express a try though most of my video editing projects will probably remain on PC.

So The decision has come down to the 2 15" macbook pro laptops. Really the only difference I see between the 2 is a slightly higher processor (2.4 instead of 2.2) and 256 MB video card instead of 128. Is the price difference of $700 worth it to go with the higher end 15" model? Or will both WoW and Final Cut Express work ok on the lower one?

I'm new to apple and making the switch and thank you for taking the time to answer my question.

Most people don't see the difference between the video cards and the difference in speed between the processors is meager, so I would opt for the lower-end 15" model.

Get the lower end and put the money saved towards 4gb ram and perhaps a 7200rpm harddrive.

The performance/price ratio will be much better. .2ghz and the same video card with more memory is hardly worth it.

I agree. 7200RPM HD would help alot.

Thank you for the advice I wasn't sure if there was much of an improvement or not now that I know there isn't I can as suggested upgrade a little bit by getting the lower end one.

I bought the lower-end and it plays WoW fine. All you need to do is turn after-glow off, and turn the settings up.

If you're going to upgrade the RAM, do it yourself if your feel comfortable. The $700 some odd dollars that Apple charges is a rip-off. You can find 4GB (2 x 2GB) for around $200. Plus, there's plenty of information on Apples website and even in the user manual about how to upgrade your RAM.

The only thing that might be worth an upgrade right now is the hard drive since to upgrade that you literally have to take the MacBook apart.

Honestly, what could they upgrade to? The Macbook Pros were recently updated anyway, so I'd expect to see a Mac Pro refresh and/or Macbook case redesign (or hey, bump up the video card in the Mac mini ) before new Macbook Pros.

I've no idea. Just reporting what I've heard. Seems unlikely to have any type of quad core laptop (drool) so probably aesthetic changes. Unless of course Apple finally decides to offer a 12" offering again. That would be kewl.
