Which liquid is the best?

Hey guys. I'm looking for the best every liquid ever to put in my setup. I looking for something blue - whether its UV reactive or not doesn't really matter. This is what I got picked out right now.

I saw one video where they poured it on a card and it was fine, then I saw another where it still allowed a set of lights to work. So, I need suggestions...

Also, should what additives should I throw in there? If I get the stuff above (or some equivalent) do I need to put anything in the system? Thanks for the help...
 
That stuff you mentionned is great if you're worried about the life of your components. I saw somewhere where they pored some of it (that was in the WC loop for 6 months already) on the mobo and it still posted... That proves this stuff doesn't corrode metal.

On the other hand... I've never felt the need to buy it. Sure, it's peace of mind, but I'm confident with my fittings. Literally, some of that 7/16' masterkleer tubing over 1/2' barbs is *tight enough*. A little distilled water, some purple ice or antifreeze, and about a tablespoon of the yellow listerine (pretty colour with the purple ice) and I havn't needed to clean out my loop for 8 months now :).

i run distilled and about 15% pentosin blue and that's it .. listerine? is that just for color?

last time i check ethylene glycol was pretty deadly to anything living ..

I run straight distilled water with all my metal components either copper or brass and have no corrosion issues or growth. Here is to hoping it stays that way.
 
MCT-5 yes it costs quite abit however this is nothing to those spending $1000's on computer hardware.

how long you had it in there?
 
copper/brass combinations should be fine providing the brass doesnt have any aluminium in it.
 
I'm using Koolance liquid--it's got a little bit of everything in it--anti-algea, anti-coorosion, etc. It's also a nice blue color! No gunk in the hoses so far.

It's a little spendier, but I think it's worth it...
 
Listerine is an anti-microbial mouth wash that kills the bacteria which produces the gum disease known as, "GINGIVITIS" :p

It's also great for killing stuff in your loop. That's what google tells me.
 
So, if I go w/ this stuff or w/ some other like Koolance, all I need is whats in the bottle and no other additives...although, it seems like a cheaper way would be just to run water w/ some antifreeze and some other little addatives...How much different will my temps be w/ water compared to the specialized liquid stuff - anyone have any idea? Thanks.
 
I don't think there's any snake oil out there that will lower your temps relative to any other liquid. Making sure there aren't critters or composits forming in your liquid is a key characteristic of your liquid.

If you want lower temperatures, ensuring that you have good flow, getting a bigger radiator, etc will do more for you than any additive to your liquid.
 
I used Listerine in my loop... been running for 2 years now with no problems. Of course, I also used Zerex along with it. The Listerine was only a few Tsp for the whole loop.

Right now I'm more of a fan of Innovatek's additive... works great and it's completely clear.
