Which LCD? $250

I think I am finally give in and giving up ye olde king of picture quality, the good old CRT. I currently have a 19" Samsung 997DF with a .20mm dot pitch, I love this thing to death but recently it has been giving me some red convergence issues in the top left, I also feel LCD has come down in price a lot and has evolved a lot and now that I don't game that much anymore I don't fear buying one despite the fact that I still notice ghosting on many of the modern LCDs.

I have $250 that I will spend without hesitation, I'm looking at wide screen monitors that are about 19-22" and I could stretch pretty far on my budget($385 is the extreme max) if the set is 22" and I will see noticeable improvements in the picture. I like my black levels, I won't lie...bedroom has this 997DF and a calibrated CRT rear projection set in it, I read the sticky that was mentioning different LCD types, I'm not quite sure what I prefer for a set, I really don't want to have to choose between color reproduction, response time, and black level.

p.s. dead pixels will drive me into a mental institute

Here are some sets I have looked at and I am interested in.

I don't think they want to help us

I asked the exact same question and I'm thinking the same stuff. But I think I narrowed it down to the 19" Asus lcd widescreen and the Hanns.G glossy finished 19" lcd widescreen.

The asus is $250 while the hanns.g is $200. I heard a lot of great things about the Hanns.G lcd, and the fact that it has a glossy finish over allows it to shine bright and appear more expensive. A non glass covered screen I heard gives the screen a dusty appeareance and distorts light, while the glossy reflects it. Unless you are in a bright room with tons of light or the sun banging right on you, the hanns.g would be a good choice.

Not many have the glossy finish on it, but the ones that do make it appear much more vivid and clear. But I am basing this off of only what I heard, but this is all that I've heard.

I think I'm gonna pick up the Hanns.g as many say it is the best product for it's price range and 100$ over.

I think the newegg link for the 19 inch samsung is a nice monitor. 4ms and widescreen.

But then again, why not just get the 22 inch now, if you are like me, if you are considering it at all now, you will be dying for it in a few months. (I always get the "I wish I had just gotten the one I really wanted" syndrome)

F8, for what he is doing, the second one he wouldn't use for the refresh rate is too high. And the third one is almost exactly like the Hanns-G except the Hanns-G is 3" smaller and The Hanns-G has a glossy finish (which gives it a professional look and clearer and brighter picture).

I don't reccomend getting either of those Benq LCD's. Unless you are going for size over quality, don't get those. Also, The hanns-G has built in speakers for those times you dont want to haul around a speaker set to a lan party or something.

The first one is bad, for an extra 20$ the hanns-g will give you a nice black glossy finished lcd with speakers.

Well after reading up way to much hoping for there to be a holy grail 22inch TN monitor, there was no turn out.

So I've decided that I want the best possible 20.1inch LCD I can get for $350~, any recommendations? There is the dell 2007fpw, but it is an ugly monitor IMO(simply because it still uses green LEDs, just like acers :( )
