I'm looking into buying a new laptop, my compaq died, i get discounts at dell/apple/gateway. My main concerns for the laptop are being light, portable, and having good battery life. SO, im looking at these 3 right now, 12in powerbook w/ 3 year warranty, wireless card 40gb hard drive, $1727

next gateway: 200x 1.4g centrino, 512 ram, cdrw/dvd 40gb drive, wireless g, $1647

final dell: latitude d600 1.4g centrino 256 ram, cdrw/dvd 40gb drive, wireless g: $1613

so???

or, an ibm t41 1.4ghz centrino, 40gb hard drive, cdrw/dvd, also, if i do this, what kind of battery life can i be expecting, and is there a way to improve this, im not familiar w/ this laptop, the price for this is gunna be around $1650

If you are comfortable with the OS choices I would go with the powerbook personally.

Most people agree IBMs are tops for build quality, longevity, and usually battery life. The T41 is sweet, if it's a similar price with similar features, Id say get it hands down.

That IBM has fantastic battery life. The Dell does not. I'm not sure about the gateway.

I am going to have to say IBM.
Built like a tank, and has great battery life.

alright, so, i think im going to go w/ the ibm, unless someone can convince me otherwise, but...i can get an x series for the same price..should i?

my roomate had a gate way with the centreno it gave him troble but he new nothing about computers and left it on all day with out pluging it in for about 12 hours on his bed under the sheets. look into tosheba they are great computers and the price is right. ibm's are the top but they are expensive you can get more for less any were else but if you want some thing to last go with the ibm. good luck
