Which is the better deal?

7600 GT for sure. I've never compared the two head to head but I know the 7600 does better in HL2 vs the 6800 GS by 20~ fps at 1600x1200 with a good bit of eye candy on. However the 7600 is one slot, uses less power and generates less heat.

Yeah, that 7 series card is more powerful than the ultra. The reason the Ultra is more expensive (significantly) is because they don't make them anymore.

Just as a point of interest, if that is what you're looking at paying for a vid card, make sure you consider grabbing a used 7800GT as it's even quicker and can be had for ~$240.

are you guys serious???

6800 ultra hands down...

6800 ultra has more fillrate than 7600GT.

Ultra also has 35.2 GB of memory bandwidth

7600 GT has 22.4 GB of bandwidth

Ultra would destroy it.

actually, the 7600 has a higher fillrate. it also has more features

400*16 = 6400
600*12 = 7200

i failed to see that the GT has 128bit, so the ultra will be faster in bandwidth intensive things (like antialiasing). my bad.

560*12= 6720 supposed specs of 7600GT
425*16= 6800 supposed specs of 6800ultra

Higher memory bandwidth = better performance in higher resolution and AA

7600GT might handle a 6800GS but not an ultra.

What is up with those links. You got a overclocked 7600GT and underclocked Ultra.

If I were to buy a card I would get the ultra. 7600GT is a budget card. Ultra is not.

I would suggest the 7600GT.

By using the 7800 GS and the 7600 preview, you can compare the 6800 Ultra and the 7600 GT. (Yes the Ultra isn't on there, but the X850PE and the 7800GS are faster). It looks like the 7600GT takes the cake.

i took clockspeeds from the two cards in question, which he linked too.

not their official spec. official spec, in this case, is not applicable.

That's on a complete different motherboard also setup and testing method might be different. Fear is not the rule to all PC games.

Also look at the 7800 GT benchmarks which reveals the benchmark setup is screwed up. You see 1 is getting 22 fps other is getting 28 fps.
